Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) has announced plans to hold a solemn Memorial Service and Prayer Day on April 26, 2024, at the Main Campus Senior Common Room. The event aims to commemorate and pay tribute to all the students who tragically lost their lives during the COVID-19 pandemic. Organized by the Student Representative Council (SRC), the occasion will provide an opportunity for the university community to come together and remember their departed peers.

To attend the Memorial Service and Prayer Day, interested individuals are requested to submit their names to the SRC president. This will help facilitate the necessary arrangements and ensure a smooth and meaningful event for all attendees.

The dress code for the day has been designated as “All black and a glimpse of light.” Attendees are encouraged to wear black attire as a symbol of mourning, while incorporating a touch of light to signify hope and resilience.

The Memorial Service and Prayer Day will serve as a solemn occasion for the university community to honor the memory of the students who passed away during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. It will provide an opportunity for attendees to share stories, memories, and prayers, fostering a sense of solidarity and support among those affected.

As the world continues to grapple with the far-reaching effects of the pandemic, it becomes crucial to acknowledge the lives that have been lost and to stand together in remembrance. The Memorial Service and Prayer Day at Great Zimbabwe University will not only pay tribute to the departed students but also offer solace and healing to their families, friends, and the wider university community.

This event serves as a reminder of the resilience and strength of the GZU community in the face of adversity. By coming together and honoring those who have passed, the university community demonstrates its unwavering support for one another and its commitment to healing and moving forward.
